Application & Hiring Process 

Start your journey toward becoming a Travis County ESD 12 Firefighter by completing the steps below.

Step 1: Review the Firefighter Job Description
Familiarize yourself with the role, expectations, and qualifications before applying to ensure this is the right fit for you.

Step 2: Complete the Application
Fill out the official TCESD12 Firefighter Application in full and submit all required documents by 4:00 PM on December 12, 2025. Applications must be submitted in person at the TCESD12 Administrative Office, 11200 Gregg Lane, Manor, TX 78653.

Step 3: Practice Testing Day (Optional)
A voluntary Candidate Physical Ability Course (CPAC) practice session will be offered on December 20, 2025. This session allows candidates to familiarize themselves with the testing format and environment.

Step 4: Entry-Level Assessment
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited via email to take the Entry-Level Assessment. No study materials are required or provided.

Step 5: Official Testing Day
The official Entry-Level Assessment will be held on December 27, 2025, at the TCESD12 Administrative Office, 11200 Gregg Lane, Manor, TX 78653.

After completing the written assessment, candidates will proceed to the CPAC site for the final portion of testing.

Step 6: Panel Interview
Candidates who successfully complete the written assessment and CPAC will be invited to a panel interview. This interview allows the department to evaluate your communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and overall fit for the team.

Panel interviews will be scheduled individually, and candidates will receive details regarding date, time, and location via email.

  • Salary after probationary period: $64,239
  • Salary during 6-month probationary period: $61,027
  • Longevity pay: 1 year ($64,239), 3 years ($67,820), 5 years ($71,253)
